Assistant Camp Manager

Job Description:As the Assistant Camp Manager, you will be responsible for assisting the Camp Manager with day-to-day operations of the North Sands Lodge facility (Fort McMurray); that is housekeeping, food and beverage, janitorial and guest services. The successful candidate will assist in decision making for the whole property as a member of the Property Management Team. Other duties will include:
•Assist site management in all aspects of camp operations by leading, coaching and mentoring employees, ensuring the maximization of revenues, market share, etc.
•Assist in developing a strong service culture and entrepreneurial spirit that displays the values and vision of Horizon North.
•Contribute to managing the departmental expenses, most importantly labour cost, within clear guidelines to maintain profitability.
•Assist with implementing company programs and managing the operations of the division in a manner consistent with federal, provincial and local laws and regulations and Horizon North policies.
•Leverage relationships and resources with area lodges and corporate offices.
•Ensure employees comply with safe work procedures and support the HSE program
•Encourage open dialogue among all associates and cultivating an environment which encourages employee suggestions and involvement.
•Resolve customer complaints as appropriate to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality as required.
•Make a positive contribution to the safety and security of our employees and guests.
•Set the standard for other employees, in terms of work ethic and personal conduct.
•Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:This position is safety sensitive, and as such will require pre-employment alcohol, drug and fitness to work testing as a condition of employment.

•Post-secondary education in a related discipline
•Four to six years’ experience in Food and Beverage/Housekeeping/ Guest Services, including a minimum of four years supervisory experience
•Proficient with MS Office Suite and Property Management Software – Innfinity Lodge Management preferred
•In a high caliber management team, respect for co workers and the willingness and ability to assist other departments as required are paramount
•Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the hospitality profession
•Experiential knowledge of people management and conflict resolution
•Self-motivated, display initiative, creativity and innovation in achieving results, and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under minimal supervision
•Possess strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Must be able to negotiate, convince, sell, and influence professionals and/or guests
•Working knowledge of federal, provincial and local laws governing human rights, occupational health and safety, and employee and labour relations
•Must have valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean drivers abstract
•Remote site experience an asset
