Acden Holdings LP. - Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) team provides dedicated safety advisory, training and compliance service to all Acden business units and external clients. HSEQ Advisor
Competition: AH-2017-137

Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, HSE Advisors are our ground level safety team members; they are committed to the safety of their field workers and to helping Acden achieve safety excellence. As an HSE Advisor, you will detect and rectify unsafe or unhealthy working conditions, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing workplace and transportation safety. This position will also require a focus on training and development of new and existing Acden employees. The Advisor will be expected to work Monday through Fridays; 8 hour days. The position is primarily based out of the Acden town office (220 Taiganova Crescent, Fort McMurray, Alberta). Schedules, shifts and worksite locations may change from time to time to meet the client requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct monthly work area inspections to ensure equipment, materials, and processes do not present a safety, health or environmental hazard. Provide results to management/supervision.
• Investigate and resolve health, safety related complaints.
• Investigate situations where a worker has refused to work based on safety conditions.
• Encourage management and employees to participate in safety programs.
• Manage actions that require completion from LCR’s and SCR’s, and keep track via Action Log
• Assist Supervision and/or Management with the implementation of action items.
• Assist in the investigation process; be involved in the preparation of incident reports/summaries.
• Attend all applicable client safety meetings, as determined necessary.
• Research, prepare & deliver weekly safety meetings; assist operations with preparation of toolbox meetings.
• Ensure all local statistics & documents are prepared as needed and forwarded to HSE stakeholders.
• Assist with the development and review of Job Hazard Assessments, Safe Work Practices and Safe Job Procedures.
• Promptly respond to any urgent situations, which require HSE team attention.
• Assist, mentor & cooperate with other members of the HSE team.
• Facilitate and deliver as necessary in current onsite, in house and third party training sessions
• Develop training packages as requested
• Track and trend incident data and Root Cause Analysis and Maintain Incident Management Summary
• Review Internal KPI’s and Provide Monthly Reports
• HSEQ Program Revisions (Standards, Codes of Practice, HSE Manual etc.)
• Take turns on Safety Hotline rotation
• Other duties as defined by the HSEQ Manager.
Job Qualifications:Qualifications:
• Minimum three year’s full time experience in an HSE dedicated role.
• Certification and designation in HSE related field (i.e. NCSO, CRSP, CHSC etc.) or completion of Occupational Health and Safety certificate.
• Minimum completion of Occupational Health and Safety certificate is strongly preferred.
• Certification in various end user training courses (forklift, Overhead Crane, Fall Protection etc.) as required by the HSEQ department.
• Clear and precise verbal communication skills and high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to demonstrate a personal commitment and positive attitude to the safety team
• Ability to manage multiple high-level responsibilities and tasks
• Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems including but not limited to: ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004
• Working knowledge of Alberta OH&S Act Regulation and Code, Alberta Traffic Safety Act, Motor Carrier Safety Standards, Motor Vehicle Transport Act and National Safety Code.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
• Drug, Alcohol and Audiometric pre-employment testing.
• Valid Class 5 operator’s license with a clean abstract (within 30 days.)
• Eligible to work on any Oil Sand site within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
